When you send a customer a review request with Evalu8, it will look as though it was sent directly from your company — that is, if you have configured the system properly. In this article, we’ll take a quick look at how to personalize the messages sent by Evalu8.
Customize Review Request Messages
To begin the personalization process, log in to the Evalu8 Administration page and select the Account Settings tab on the right.
Select the green Text for Request Messages tab.
Here you will see a form with two fields. The text in these fields represents the content of the initial message sent to your customer when you make a review request. We have included several wildcard fields that can be used to personalize these messages and have enabled HTML coding so that you can customize the look of the message.
Working with Wildcards
Six wildcard fields are available to you to create the review request message. The fields are:
OurCompany — The name of your company
OurFirstName — First name of your company contact
OurLastName — Last name of your company contact
LinkURL — The link to the review page
CustFirstName — Customer’s first name
CustLastName — Customer’s last name
We’ll use an example to help explain how these work. Say you have configured the Email Review Request as follows:
“Dear CustFirstName,
Thank you for doing business with OurCompany. As discussed, we would appreciate you giving us a social media review. You can find the review links by clicking here: LinkURL.
Thanks in advance,
OurFirstName”
The customer would receive a message saying:
Dear John,
Thank you for doing business with Evalu8 Inc. As discussed, we would appreciate you giving us a social media review. You can find the review links by clicking here: https://to.evalu8.net/1A2B3C4D5EThanks in advance,
Dave
The wildcards pull information from the Add Review Request, Account Settings and Staff Members pages, then automatically populate the message with the correct information.
Working with HTML Coding
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the basis for how content on the Internet is formatted. While it is possible to make a career out of learning HTML, we’ve enabled the simplest of functions to help you add some character to your review requests. Here are a few of the most popular commands.
Tag Function
<br> Adds a single line break
<b> Makes the subsequent text bold
</b> Ends the section of bold text
<i> Adds Italics to the text that follows
</i> Ends italic text
<font size=x> Changes the size of the text *1
<font color=”xxx”> Changes the color of the text that follows *2
</font> Ends the custom font command
*1 Font color options include: red, pink, green, blue, yellow, orange, gold, violet, magenta, purple, lime, teal, white, black, maroon, gray and silver.
*2 Font sizes include 1 through 5, where 3 is standard, 1 is very small and 5 is very large.
Here is a second example of our original method with some additional HTML coding.
“<b>Dear CustFirstName,</b><br>Thank you for doing business with <font color=blue>OurCompany</font>. As discussed, we would appreciate you giving us a <i>social media review<i>. You can find the <i>review links</i> by clicking here: LinkURL.<br><br><font color=red>Thanks in advance,<br>OurFirstName</font>”
This message would be received looking like this:
“Dear John,
Thank you for doing business with Evalu8 Inc. As discussed, we would appreciate you giving us a social media review. You can find the review links by clicking here: https://to.evalu8.net/1A2B3C4D5E.
Thanks in advance,
Dave”
Quite frankly, this example is pretty ugly, but it drives the point home. But it does demonstrate how you can set the colors and font size as you see fit.
Once you are done making changes, click on the green Submit button. We recommend sending yourself a test message to make sure the content looks exactly the way you want.
Personalize Review Forms
If you have configured your system to take your clients to the Evalu8 review system, you can configure the content of the associated messages by selecting the green Create Review Forms tab.
The four fields on this page work in a similar fashion to the Text for Review Messages page, but with fewer wildcards and no HTML options.
Upload Your Logo
The last step in customizing your content is to upload your company logo to the Evalu8 system. Select the Account Settings option on the blue menu bar, then scroll down to the Logo section of the page. You will see a Choose File button. Click on that button and your computer should bring up an “Open” window. Navigate to the location of your company image, select it, then select Open. Back on the Account Settings page, select the green Submit button to save your changes.
Your logo should be stored in a bitmap graphics format with a transparent or white background. The image will be shown at up to 300 x 150 pixels. If you upload a higher resolution image, it will be resized (to scale) so that it displays properly in the available space.
We hope you find this information valuable in getting the most out of the Evalu8 service. If you need a hand getting things configured, reach out to us by creating a Support Ticket. We’ll route your request to a member of our team who can help you.
